Lab
We test it in practice.
In the Lab, hypotheses developed in Consulting are tested under real conditions. Within a clearly defined timeframe, teams generate robust insight that supports the next decision.
Real-world Lab
Change begins with an experiment.
In Consulting, we clarify the core concern and develop a testable hypothesis or possible solution. In the Lab, that approach is tried in practice within a controlled space for experience and learning.
Participating teams work with real tasks, observe impact together and document what works, what needs adjustment and what should be discontinued.
The Lab creates a reliable setting in which learning and decision-making reinforce each other.
Clear timeframe
A Lab with a clearly defined timeframe
- Hypothesis We define the expected effect and how it would become observable.
- Experiment A team or clearly scoped area tests the approach under real conditions, for example over one month.
- Review Participants assess together what worked, what created friction, and what was surprising.
- Decision Based on the findings, decide whether to conclude, adjust in a targeted way, or extend in a next timeframe.
The trial produces robust insight for the next decision.
Possible experiments
What can be tested in the Lab
The examples below illustrate what a Lab can look like in practice. They are orientation points, not a fixed catalogue of services.
- Testing an agile way of working with one team.
- Deploying an AI agent for a team over a limited period.
- Trialling a dual leadership setup within a clearly defined scope.
- Running recurring risk workshops as part of day-to-day work.
- Testing an ITSM process such as Problem Management in practice.
- Observing new routines for prioritisation and decision-making.
Controllable change
From test to a sound next decision.
A single Lab creates a clear entry point with a defined start, observable work and a deliberate close.
If an approach proves useful, the next timeframe can be planned. This creates a practical path of evidence-based decisions that makes transformation effective step by step.
Part of the Magnetic Fields Cycle
Connected with the other fields
The Lab takes up questions and hypotheses from Consulting and makes them testable under real conditions. The resulting experience is reflected and further developed in the Institute.
See all three fields together: Consulting, Lab and Institute at a glance.
